June 2010

Here are a few of the prints I am showing in the Midsummer Nights Dream exhibition in Airfield which opens Jun 17th and runs for a month. They are all monoprints.

From the show description:

Sarah Fox's works are inspired by the language and magic of Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream. She has printed a number of the fantastical creatures that often wander through her dreams. The text based works were inspired by a few of her favourite snatches of poetry from the play. She sees the animals as being in disguise, happily spell-bound and with limitless potential.

March 2010 (but actually last year...)

In the giant spring clean of my little mac I came across these posters I did last year.

February 2010

Our last brief was to create a website as part of the IMMA website about the art movement Futurism.

These were another wonderful three weeks. (except the cut and paste. I don't like cut and paste)

February 2010

We have just finished out three week elective portion of the year. I chose Sonic Arts which was brilliant. Our lecturer was Geoffery Perrin who is described as an 'Established record producer/engineer, having worked with bands such as Dead Can Dance, Pulp, Belly, BAD, Kila and composers such Hector Zazau and Roger Doyle.' Such a legend really. He introduced us to such a vast amount of music from Krautrock to Jazz to Bellydance; it was a real treat. He also taught us to use Reason, Audacity and Acid, the first two of which I am now completely enamoured by. (they don't make Acid for Mac so needless to say I had to ignore it...)

January 2010

Our Sound and Motion brief asked us to make a visual response in the mighty Adobe After Effects to a snippet of music. I had an excerpt of Flowing by Michael O Suillebhain.

I truly loved this project.

The next project in College (which is 2nd year VisComm, IADT) was image making and had a few parts... The first was abstract photography, aka going bananas with a camera. Fun.

The second was the visual interpretation of a word, mine being PRIVATE. 9 squares, of secondary, primary and handmade sources were used to convey the word visually.

My favorite square was this one. Thank you to Woodies DIY for the wonderful (and FREE!) wallpaper samples!

The third was to 'sell' another student in our class. We had to create a package that represented their personality and style. I had Will, a great subject...

September 2009

Our first project in college was a typographic one. We were given a typeface and asked to design a poster to advertise it. Mine was Bauer Bodoni....

My thinking for this font was that it was so stately, classy and elegant, that it didn't matter what you said, it was always going to look beautiful with Bauer Bodoni. Thus, the word Bollocks, looking gorgeous and glamorous.

Here are a few illustrations I did for a shoot by the gorgeous Lili Forberg.

This is an illustrated shoot I did for Corina Gaffey at Kiss Magazine.

March (i think) 2009

This is a flyer I designed for Local Motion, a startup business by two friends from the States who had a heck of a time trying to settle in Dublin. It was a great idea; a mobile massage service catering to business professionals. A back rub at work? Yes please! Sadly it never left the ground.

So I'm a student again, and as Burco so aptly says, I'm a total nerdasaurus. (i'm very okay with that though. Nerd is the new cool.)
