ROAD RECORDS

Why we love Road Records:
Road Records is an independent record store located in Dublin, Ireland. We have been in business since September 1997. The shop is run by Julie and Dave. We specialise in everything non chart orientated. The site and shop was set up from pure frustration with big stores and the likes and the lack of facilities for people who like their music a little left of centre. We believe in the old style way of running a music store, yes indeed, one where the staff actually know the music they are selling. We don't really have any rules about what types of music we sell, its quite simple, if we like it then we will sell it. We have a huge selection of Irish releases from Irish based independent artists etc. A lot of Irish artists are releasing records these days without the assistance of record labels and we are only too glad to help them out with this by giving them somewhere to sell their music without the need for a label or proper distribution. This will benefit both the bands and their fans as some bands are able to release limited runs of cd's and cdr's. This way we all benefit. We hope you enjoy trawling through the site and have some fun! Road Records

NORMAN RECORDS UK

The genius behind Norman Records:
10 years hard labour has put young Norman as the peoples favourite for mail order music. Supporting new and up and coming music we aim to promote as much good music as humanly possible within the time limits we have each week. We cover fringe music from most genres (indie, electronic, experimental, hip hop, folk, post rock etc....) and we write our own reviews on our web site. We deal directly with bands and labels as well as UK distributors. Check out our web site for more info like! Also we run a label which we've pretty much wound down now but the world still needs to hear Sierpinski so here's a couple of tracks from the 2 albums we released. For more info you can check the Jonathon Whiskey page on our site! Norman Records!

FENCE RECORDS, FENCE COLLECTIVE

The Beardly Goodness of Fence Records:
The sleepy fishing-village of Anstruther, in Scotland's East Neuk of Fife, is home to FENCE RECORDS - a micro-indie music label, with a resolute D.I.Y. work ethic, and healthy assortment of musical-styles/facial-hair. The label's output is reserved exclusively for members of THE FENCE COLLECTIVE - a loose-knit amalgam of singer-songwriters, musicians, bands and electronic artists, who collaborate with one another on record, as well as on stage. Although their music isn't strictly 'folk' in the traditional sense, the Collective's tendency to hand-down and share songs with one another is very much in the folk spirit. Following the example set by label/collective founder, Kenny Anderson (aka KING CREOSOTE), prolificacy is encouraged and ego is wrist-slapped - with most Collective members choosing to hide behind a pseudonym (as well as substantial beard growth). THE WINDING STAIR BOOKSHOP

The beauty of the Bookshop:
The Winding Stair Bookshop & Café became a famous Dublin landmark in the 70's and a popular meeting place for writers, musicians and artists. In an era of few venues it played host to dozens of readings & book launches and for many an unofficial office where long afternoons were spent meeting people. When its closure was announced in 2005 there were muttering about the end of an era – but, in 2006 the Thomas Read Group brought this much-loved Bookshop & Restaurant back and it's better than ever. The Bookshop continues in the same format as before, with plenty of second-hand books, unusual new publications and a terrific range of children's books. The Winding Stair Bookshop
